During my internship at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Taiwan. These interviews were important because they helped me realize that volunteer management is not only an HR process. It also depends on how different departments actually work with volunteers. Each department may have different needs, different task types, and different expectations. Some volunteer tasks are simple and repetitive, while others require more training, more attention to detail, or closer supervision. Because of this, I could not design the volunteer journey map only from my own understanding or only from OHR’s perspective. I needed to hear from the people who actually work with volunteers and understand where the system already works well, where it feels inefficient, and where small improvements could make future cooperation smoother.
