To cultivate the next generation of Asian women leaders, the Garden of Hope Foundation held the second "Asian Girls for Sustainability" project this year, along with the 2024 Asian Girls Summer Empowerment Camp from July 15 to 20.
Ten young women from various Asian countries were invited to Taiwan for in-depth empowerment sessions. These participants hailed from the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Mongolia, Israel, and Taiwan. Each of them focused on addressing local community issues by applying the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to propose impactful solutions, aiming to contribute to their respective societies.
Building on the success of last year’s project, the Garden of Hope Foundation once again partnered with the project-based learning expert organization, iEARN Taiwan. Through dedicated mentorship, the young women were guided in transforming their sustainability projects from ideas into tangible action.
As Executive Director Wang Yuehao emphasized during the camp’s opening ceremony, beyond enhancing their project implementation skills, the Garden of Hope Foundation seeks to empower these young women to raise their voices. The goal is for them to break through gender norms and contribute to a society free from gender discrimination and violence.
These young leaders showed tremendous courage by stepping beyond traditional gender roles, standing on the global stage to advocate for their communities and themselves, often in patriarchal settings. The Garden of Hope Foundation is committed to continually investing in international empowerment resources, supporting emerging female leaders in realizing sustainable projects, and advancing gender equality in their societies.
