For 60 years, World Vision Taiwan has remained committed to humanitarian efforts both domestically and internationally. On August 8-9, it was honored with several prestigious awards: the "2024 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) – Gold Award," the "2024 Taiwan Sustainability Action Award – Gold Award," and the "Golden Eagle Award – Bronze Award" for Sustainable Microfilm at Taiwan's largest microfilm festival. These accolades recognize World Vision Taiwan's leadership in engaging the public to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, World Vision Taiwan’s "2023 International Water Resource and Sanitation Development Program" was awarded gold at both the Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards. Notably, a team of 18 staff members worked across eight countries to establish 17 water wells and supply points, form 28 community water resource management committees, and support the construction of toilets for 4,932 households. These initiatives have benefited over 80,000 people, significantly contributing to SDG 6—“Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.”
As part of its 60th-anniversary celebrations, World Vision Taiwan was also invited to participate in the "2024 Taipei Golden Eagle Microfilm Festival" for the first time. The organization submitted two documentary short films: Vision: A Better World《展望•更好的世界》 and Don't Be a Bystander! Taking Austin Lin to Somaliland for 5 Days《不做世界的局外人!帶林柏宏去索馬利蘭5天》. Featuring prominent figures like Sylvia Chang, Austin Lin, and self-supporting youth from World Vision, the films deliver heartfelt reflections on sustainability and hope. They stood out among 183 entries and secured the Bronze Award for Sustainable Microfilm.
Through the physical exhibition at the "2024 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo," the public gained deeper insights into Taiwan’s long-term efforts in promoting sustainable development both domestically and internationally, driven by the initiatives of nonprofit organizations like World Vision Taiwan.
