The 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings have been released, with 2,526 universities making the list. Among them, National Taiwan University (NTU) achieved the highest ranking, placing 14th globally — a remarkable leap of 41 spots compared to last year, marking its best performance in history.
NTU President Wen-Chang Chen attributed this record-breaking achievement to the university’s consistent efforts in sustainability-related areas. He noted that NTU has been recognized in recent years for its performance in teaching, research, and social sustainability. The university has also made significant strides in overall governance, financial management, and talent development, earning numerous domestic and international awards. While rankings are just one metric, NTU remains committed to the goals of sustainable development, aiming to make a positive impact on society, the nation, and the world.
In the 2025 global University Impact Rankings, Western Sydney University in Australia claimed the top spot. The rankings evaluate the progress of 2,526 universities across 130 countries or regions in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
