Taiwan Equality Campaign

Taiwan Equality Campaign (TEC), formerly known as the Marriage Equality Coalition, was established in November 2016 by five LGBTIQ+ and women’s rights organizations — the Taiwan Tongzhi HotlineAssociation, Taiwan LGBT Family Rights Advocacy Association, The Awakening Foundation, The Lobby Alliance for LGBT Human Rights, and the LGBTIQ+ streamingplatform GagaOOLala — with the primary mission of advancing marriage equality in Taiwan.

Following the legalization of same-sex marriage on May 24, 2019, a historic milestone for Taiwan’s equality movement, the coalition underwent organizational reform, officially becoming the Taiwan Equality Campaign, an independently registered non-profit organization. Since then, TEC has continued to pursue evidence-based and systematic strategies to promote gender equality and diversity across politics, workplaces, andinternational society.
