The Garden of Hope Foundation is a non-government, non-profit group established in 1988 to help disadvantaged girls and young women, especially girls caught in the sex industry, survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence, and survivors of human trafficking. Many of our clients have been subjected to more than one form of abuse. From one halfway house, our services have grown to include shelters and service centers nation-wide providing everything from counseling and temporary housing, to employment training, social work and legal aid. Our latest phase of development helps women “go the second mile” with job training, housing aid, and emotional support after they leave the shelter.
【Department of International Affairs】
Building on the principles laid out in the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), The Garden of Hope (GOH) has spent over thirty years working at the grassroots level in Taiwan to achieve our mission of preventing violence against women. Through long-term engagement with international networks around this issue, taking part in knowledge exchange, and learning from international practices, GOH has shared the Taiwanese experience with organizations from all around the world, contributing to the shared knowledge around women's services.
Some examples of GOH’s work in this area include founding the Asian Network of Women's Shelters, working towards improving women’s shelters and ending human trafficking as well as supporting the empowerment of Asian girls.
By becoming a part of the GOH International Affairs team, you will contribute to the development of a platform amplifying global voices on women's rights and the empowerment of girls in Asia. Your role will extend to organizing and executing vital gender justice projects such as the Asia Girls Campaign and the Global Network of Women’s Shelters. Your expertise in project management, global communication, thematic research and event planning will be essential in achieving our mission. The primary responsibilities of our International Affairs Intern will involve supporting ongoing projects, editing and translation tasks, conceptualizing social media campaigns, and conducting gender-related research.
