Chunyuan Hu is the founder of Refugee 101 Taiwan, a project dedicated to raising public awareness of global refugee issues. She has conducted over 120 interactive workshops and talks on these issues across 16 counties in Taiwan, as well as in Malaysia and Japan. She holds an MA in Education, Health Promotion, and International Development from University College London, with a particular interest in refugees in higher education. Her professional experience includes working as a supported housing officer for unaccompanied asylum-seeking youth and as a mentor assisting adult refugees in accessing educational and employment resources. She is currently a consultant reviewing country policy and information notes used by immigration officers. Additionally, she has volunteered at a Palestinian camp in Jordan and visited several migrant centers worldwide, including those at the US-Mexico border, in Egypt, and in Germany.
This course provides participants with first-hand experience in exploring and engaging with humanitarian issues. It equips learners with the skills to critically analyse challenges, develop diverse perspectives, and identify ways to overcome biases. Through interactive discussions and case studies, participants will gain insights into refugee issues and ways to design more effective humanitarian programs. Also, the course covers tactics for communicating complex humanitarian issues to the general public. Participants will explore methods for raising awareness, fostering meaningful discussions, and encouraging reflections on forced migration. By the end of the course, learners will not only gain a better understanding of the issues but also be better prepared to engage in humanitarian work with a more informed and strategic approach.
