The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) Taiwan is an environmental non-profit organization that promotes wildlife conservation and community empowerment to create a better world for people, animals and nature. My main tasks involved adapting an internationally developed environmental education program for Taiwan to teach local children about urban biodiversity. In addition, I assisted instructors at the Sustainability Academy, an experimental elementary school that focuses on environmental issues. This on-the-job experience, in addition to the professional development courses offered, taught me the importance of innovation and creativity in achieving sustainability as well as how I can actively contribute to my local and global community.
